Signed up long ago, just getting around to thinking about the Explorer....

I'm a auto tech (european, mostly) from Kirkland, WA with a 97 Eddie Bauer...

Came to me a odd way, I cared for it at the shop I worked at for 3 years for a customer (came to our shop for the families Audis). Even put a transmission in it. When they went to sell it, I expressed interest and snagged it for $900.

1997 4 door 4wd, 5.0, 193k on it, fully documented, I did a tranny at ~165k and now I'm looking to rebuild the motor and do a little work...

It's been "the baby hauler" for the last year, but now I'd like to start fixing it up...

Yeah, I know. KBB was 4200 at the time. My (former) co-worker had quoted him some absurd amount of $ to fix a "bad" timing cover leak, so he figured it wasn't worth much.

This "bad" leak was noted on my first inspection of the rig 3 years prior, and is more of a "seep" but I didn't know this at the time....

So far, I've thrown some shocks on, a air filter, and did a ATF flush @30k on the tranny.

That makes it even better!
