I have an 02 explorer an im trying to play my ipod through my head unit. i have a stock cd player. im looking for a way to plug my ipod into the cd changer port in the back of the head unit. I need to know what type of cable i need to get, and how to get the head unit out of the dashboard? Has anyone else done this? I have a friend who bought some $20 cable and installed it in 10 minutes on his jeep. Can this be done for my explorer?

2 other methods...

I have a 02 explorer and I play my ipod in it all the time.
I use the tape deckand use one of those portable cd player tape hook ups...You can get them at any Best Buy for like 20 bucks...If you wanna spend a lil more money, you can just get a radio transmitter. Apple sells a few different ones...you just change the radio station to have it work....

From what I can gather the peripheralelectronics.com doesn't work with an In-Dash 6 disk CD Changer. I'm looking for the same thing for my iPod. I'm currently using the FM Transmitter and it's works but you can hear static in the background. If you find out a solution let me know.

I call PIE.net and fould out that the issue for the six disk in-dash change is only on the 2003 and greater models. '02 model will work.
