Thank goodness I tend to only listen to my iPod on weekends. I live in my truck M-F and listen to sat radio most of the time. Since getting my 2017 Explorer Platinum less than a week ago, the iPod keeps getting dropped by the system after restarting the vehicle. I've tried making sure to turn off the audio system before I turning off the ignition, I've updated to IOS 10 from IOS 9, and now I've tried restoring the iPod entirely. It's a fairly new ipod touch. After it gets dropped, I unplug and replug it in, but then it gives me a message about indexing the device that takes FOREVER before I can listen to it. What a PITA. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have a fix??

Wait until Sync 3 (v.2.2) is officially released.

I have a copy of it thanks to a connection and it's available on the Internet if you look for it, fixed all my iOS 10 problems.

Any way you can get me a copy, or direct me to where to find it. How do you install a Sync update. I'm a newby with Sync, although very tech savy.

Here around page 50 I think.. there's a version for nav and one for non nav.

I found the link and the download on page like 121. HOWEVER, it does say this is an update from version 1.0 to 2.2. I'm running 2.0 now. Is this going to cause any issues?? What do you think. I'm no expert at this but like I said, tech savy. Any idea when ford will release v2.2 through normal update channels? I checked tonight and 2.0 is the latest version out there. Wow, what a PITA with IOS 10.

2.0 to 2.2 is what I did, and it was fine.

If you want to wait, I would expect (but I'm guessing, I have no hard evidence behind this) that 2.2 will be available via Wi-Fi update within the next few days.

Given that I've never done it before, I'll likely wait the few days. Are the "READ ME" instructions on how to do it accurate? BTW, thanks for your help. Very appreciated!!

The readme is very accurate. My guess would be it's gonna be several weeks before Ford releases the upgrade to the general public. And I doubt it will be wifi. The dealers aren't even installing it yet. JMHO.

I wouldn't expect this update to be a dealer only upgrade... nothing about this really requires dealer intervention.

The installation is basically extract the files onto a blank thumb drive. Plug in the drive and let the Sync system do the rest. That's it!

For me, I leave the vehicle in key on/engine off to complete the upgrade. I don't know that it's necessary but in the old MFT days that made a difference. Just be sure to keep any unneeded accessories turned off to preserve battery charge.

No reason you shouldn't try it yourself except comfort level, honestly. But if you're leery, wait for the official release just to have the support out there if something goes wrong.

Didn't mean to imply dealer only, I think it'll be a download/USB install. I installed on my non-nav Focus a couple weeks back.

Have to say thanks to thefranchise713. Did the update this am. So far so good. Huge improvement in IOS integration. Many thanks.

So, spoke a little too soon. So, v2.2 does solve the problem of the car dropping my ipod touch. HOWEVER, I now cannot see more than 4 play lists at a time, even after re-indexing. If I want to play a different play list than the four that were loaded, I have to select it from the ipod itself, but then when I return to browse, it "kicks" one of the other three off the list. What gives. Cannot believe what a PITA this is on a car that cost this much. Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I will compare notes on mine with the playlist issue. Honestly I didn't notice it. Glad you saw some improvement, though.

Big improvement. Something definitely I can manage, just still surprised they didn't release a better firmware.

To their credit, until iOS 10 came out the interaction was pretty solid even in the 2008 Sync Days of version 1.0.

When iOS 10 came out, CarPlay worked beautifully! Nothing else did.
