Is 2006 good offroad vs 2003?

I have to purchase a 4x4 this week before I move to pennsylvania. I am located in Florida dn I can choose between two off lease vehicles..but am torn by the choice. Does anyone have advice?

I can choose a 2003 Explorer XLS with 40k miles for $11,000 or a 2006 XLT with 21K for $19,000 . I can get an extended warranty on either for about $3000 additional.
Any advice?

take the 06 if it falls in your budget, nicer, quieter etc...

Off road, mine did fine so far (not like rock climbing, but not roads our Focus could pass either..)

Thanks for your input. I can afford either truck. I am also working on my house and can get the 2003 XLS for $10,999 with no warranty and save $11,000 over the 2006 XLT. I would rather put that $11000 into the house.
What really could go wrong with a 2003 explorer (former lease) with 42K on it?
for $3500 for the extended warranty, I could do alot of repairs...

I personally would buy the cheaper truck w/o the warranty & please 'the wife' by putting the other $11K into the house .....try to keep 'the lit'l women happy', ya see.....
