First off, what are the preouts used for? I'm looking at two JVC head units that are identical but one has 2volt preouts, the other has 4 volts. The 2volt unit is 265, the other is $300+. Thanks for helping my stereo ignorant self once again :D

Pre- outs are used so you can run RF cables to your amp rather than re-wire your whole car. If you're only gonna run one amp 2 volts ought to be fine. JVC HUs aren't the best for the price though. Look at some pioneers or sonys, or ask the guys at the stereo shop what they have in their cars, not what they are trying to push on the sales floor.

The JVCs most places are more expensive. I did quite a bit of reading up on Crutchfield the last few days. Then I went searching and found the JVC KD-SH909 I like for basicalyl the same price as the other head units I was looking at. (I searched for prices on all of them).

I'm not sure if I'll get one big amp to push both of my subs or two separate ones.

JUst remember price doesn't always mean quality. As for an amp, i'd run at least 500 watts cuz if you're gonna put in 15, you gotta go for the gold.

the Solos seem to like LOTS of power, I'm gonna make sure i can meet the peak and RMS needs of the subs..stupid to cheap out on somethin like that.

I honestly havent heard anyone say they are bad. Havent heard anyone say they are great. Just what I picked out from what will fit what I (think) I need and what I (think) I need lol.

Thanks for the help

The higher the voltage, the cleaner the signal.

The 4 volt output will allow you to keep the level matching input circuit to its lowest setting giving you the highest signal to noise ratio. Most input level adjustments as a volume control which they are not.

thanks for all the info, gettin a 4volt for sure
