Is a Tranny upgrade possible?

I have 164k on my 4x2 Ex and the automatic transmission makes a "clunk" sound when changing from park to drive to reverse. You get the idea......

If a swap becomes necessary, is there one that will fit with little or no modifications that would actually be an ungrade from stock? Mazda? Different year?

No need to get dramatic

Just replace the low/reverse servo O rings before you burn out a perfectly good transmission.

I agree with Opera House. The low reverse servo leak causes a late and or/harder than usual jerk shift into reverse of low and can be easily fixed with a new seal. There are other threads dealing with this. You might also want to check your U joints. That would magnify the problem.
