I think this is a tranny problem

So I put my 1994 automatic explorer in drive, 1st, 2nd. 4x4 and it wouldn't move at all forward, but reverse works fml. What is the problem and how much would it be to fix? Friend said these have bands inside the tranny one for reverse and one for drive and one of them could've snapped?

ok 2nd does work. I bring it up to 30kph then switch it to drive. and at stops I just switch it back to 2nd. whats wrong here?
