Going to pick up an alternator for 98 4.0 SOHC. Is the swap the standard thing - on top of engine, bolt on top, bolt on bottom?

Do I release the tension on the serp belt at an idler pulley? If so, do you know what with? a quarter inch drive ratched or a wrench, or ???

Thanks for any help you have. I'm driving quite a ways to do this for my daughter and hope I don't get there and find something that stumps the star and I make a fool of myself.

Also going to flush radiator, but quite sure that is straight forward. Should I use a chemical to flush?

You must release the tension on the belt from the tensioner, it's just uses a 3/8" ratchet that snaps right into the tensioner itself. It's a square peg, you will see it.

The alternator itself is held on by 3 bolts, and there is a few electrical plugs. Easy as pie. I can do it in under 20 minutes.
