Is it tryin to do a burnout or what?

I have a '94 XLT, and every once in a while, espescially if there are more people in the car other than myself, from a stop it will rev up like it is accelerating, but won't move, then after the revs have increased by about 1K, it lurches into gear and the tires will either bark or spin slightly, all this takes place over the time of about a second or 2, so i don't have time to let off, b/c i don't realize it til the tires chirp and b/c it normally does not do this......any suggestions?

You'd better have your transmission checked out. I t sounds like it is slipping. This could be very bad news and very expensive if it is not taken care of soon.
