2014 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi everyone. A couple weeks ago after parking, turning the car off and taking the key out of the ignition, I opened up the driver side door and the radio continued to play even with the door open. This has never happened before, it always turns off as soon as that door is opened.

Today after parking, taking the key out of the ignition I opened the door and the car made the sound "you forgot your key in the ignition beeps" even though the key was in my hand.

Both times all I did was shut the door and reopen it and it fixed itself, but I am wondering if this is the start of something worse to come or do I have nothing to worry about? Had the car for 1.5 years and just weird these happened this month.

Thanks!
PS This is in the 2014 xlt ecoboost

Are you sure it is indicating it is in park. There was a TSB on that issue....I think the 2014s were included.

It's under warranty...simply take it to your dealer and let them diagnose the issues......

Yes, other vehicles do this. Mine does. It did it yesterday morning. No pattern to when it does it.

I'm sure Ford just thinks this is a "feature".

Others will tell you that you are being too picky for expecting your vehicle electronics to work correctly 100% of the time. I won't. MFT and Ford's vehicle electronics are still nowhere near ready for prime time. But, rather than fixing it, they've dumped the original and are rewriting it.

Way to spin someone else's thread into your MFT complaint thread.

The chime is going. My bet is you have the shift to park problem going on

Not on mine. It most often happens when you stop, shift to park, shut off the key but remain in the vehicle for a few seconds or more, then open the door to exit.

The only way to get mine to shut up was to close the door, start the vehicle and then shut it off.

I have had this happen a couple of times if you sit in the car for a while with it shut off. Weird. The chime keeps going even when you get out and shut the door. No shift to park warning in the left LCD display. Perhaps it is related to the shift to park issue and perhaps not. Fix is to start and turn off again. Strange. Electrical and/or computer gremlins concern me for the long haul.

These work for me on my bike - http://www.gremlin-bells.com/
Have never needed one for my Ex!:D

Another weird one today. I shut off the car, took the keys out, opened the door and radio shuts off as normal. When I closed the door the radio came back on! Will be taking the car in this weekend or next weekend and will update with what happens.

Never had that happen.

Have you reset the system lately (pulled fuse or disconnected negative battery cable for 20 seconds and reconnecting)
