I've read the other thread about the 2 dr Sport being discontinued in 05. Is this true? Does anyone have any updated info?

I thought it was leaving in '04.

But yea, they are being discontinued. That is the main reason it didn't get the IRS changes in '02 like the 4-door did.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!:(
I was hopin they would keep the Sports as the off-roaders since the new 4 doors are more street-oriented. That sucks that they're being discontinued.

thats what i heard as well

I've heard alot of different things on if/when the sport is going to be discontinued. I have yet to see anything official that says the sport is going to be discontinued.

That sucks! I guess the end of an era. It does seem like all the SUV's i see anymore are 4 doors.

Kinda frustrating... first they got rid of the Chevy Tahoe 2 door, and now the Sport... (which I did know would eventually happen). Oh weell... its just frustrating... oh well..

Yeah '03 was the last year. I'm 95% sure. Ford has put out order guides for every vehicle except the Explorer Sport. It really sucks. Thats why I got mine when I did.

Just think... maybe this will raise resale values! Woo hoo... maybe I WILL sell in a few years haha.

Well, usually when a model is discontinued, the resale of that model goes down. :( Less support, less parts, etc. But, the 02, 03 Sport will be the latest Explorers with SRAs, so that may help them out.

i am not sure why they would do this, whats going to take its place, the sport trac, which i'm sorry if any of you sport trac owners are reading this, but this hardly qualifies as an explorer in my book its a whole different truck, and IMO, i repeat IMO the sport trac's are not nearly as cool looking as a regular explorer

But maybe this is the start of a new vehicle more geared towards gearheads?

I kinda doubt it, i think thats really wishful thinking. No company out there really makes a vehicle thats geared towards gear heads, the closest thing i can think of is jeep with the rubicon. though you never know with ford theyre doing some really interesting things now. the redesigned mustang, the new GT40 you never know. it would be cool if ford produced another Bronco but im not going to hold my breath.

i dont know. dealers dont like people who modify thier car. they want people who cant change their oil. i got treated like crap the last time i brought it in for service. put a real bad taste in my mouth for Ford. i hate letting someone else work on my car.

I really hope they make a modernized Bronco with the DOHC 5.4L, that would be cool. I would also hope they wouldn't go four independent on it, that would just ruin it...once again though, wishful thinking:(

Well, other than being midsized, the Sport was the closet thing they had. The Bronco and the Sport are/did go away simply because 2-doors don't sell anywhere near as much as 4-doors. Most SUVs are bought by "family types" and they simply prefer the practicality of having 4 doors.

But I agree with you!! My dad picked up a cherry '95 XLT last week. He sold his '91 BEB to get an Expe, now sold that to go back to Bronco. I LOVE THAT THING!! Are you getting old when you envy EVERY vehicle that your parents own?:)

I was looking thought the ranger package pamphlet today, for the new line up, and guess what is listed, I'm not sure on what this could mean, but the Thunderbolt was included in the flyer:D

I saw a Thunderbolt today. Wasn't sure at first if it was a factory thing.

Had a pretty nast wing, but nice rollpan and nice looking duals. Unfortunately, it sounded very much like a Honda :(
