Hi folks,

Sorry I have been absent for so long, been busy and truck has been working fine, until now. Every once in a while when starting my truck, I get a rough idle then dies after a few seconds. If I try again immedietley, won't even turn over. After 10 minutes or so, starts up like nothing is wrong. I have no problems while driving at all. It will happen if the truck has been sitting for hours, or we just stopped for a few minutes.

Does this sound like a fuel pump problem, or something else?

Thanks!!

You might have a loose ground wire or the solenoid on the starter could be going out. I would check your negative battery cable and your ground on the starter. Could be loose or damaged inside the wire casing. The wires can look fine but will be severely corroded on the inside. It could also be a slight vacuum leak but being that its intermittent I think its electrical.

Have you checked the fuel pressure when it stalls/won't start?

do you hear the pump engage when this happens after turning the key to the on position?

I will have to get a fuel pressure gauge and check that, found how to do it on the forum here. The fuel pump does engage when it's on, sounds normal.

I will have to check the solenoid, got some time this weekend to actually do some troubleshooting. If anyone else has ideas please post them. i'd like to nip this in the bud. Thanks

Update:

Well after having no problems for a bit here, now it won't go at all. I turned the key so i could hear the fuel pump, nothing. I am going to check the relay. Luckily it's located at a store over a 5 minute walk from here and not several hours away.

Update part 2, After reading up a few things here, I am thinking it may be the fuel pump relay. I popped out the old one, put it back in, car started right up. I did buy a new one and will get it in. And HOPEFULLY that will be that. More updates will appear on it's status soon.
