Is the intermediate pipe, muffler and resonator assembly welded?

Hi I'm new to the forums here, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the intermediate pipe, muffler and resonator assembly on a 2001 Sport Trac are welded from the factory. The flare end on the intermediate pipe is busted by the flange and I can't get the pipe off the muffler to change it out. Any help or ideas is appreciated!

They are welded. I bought just the intermediate pipe that goes from the flange to the muffler, shortened it, cut the existing pipe shorter, and ran a sleeve over both to couple them. Used sealant to be sure of no leaks, has held.

Now my muffler is starting to go!
