I have a 94 explorer sport and sometimes after I make a left turn and the blinker cam turns off the turn signal, the headlights go out. If I jiggle the turn signal lever they come back on. It also happens sometimes when I'm on a bumpy road (I live in a somewhat rural area). I was wondering if this is a common problem with the Explorers. I tried searching this forum but didn't find any post about this.

Very common. So much so that most dealers stock the multifunction switch. Many, many posts about it.

Mine throws out smoke, but still works fine.

Really? Hasn't happend to me on 2 different 94's. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

mine went out and i lost my brake lights. i picked one up from autozone but it was pricey at $130. and it took me only five minutes to install.

I tried searching first but I'm not that familiar with this forum. This is my daily driver, but I'm an RX-7 enthusiast. This site has been resourceful though. I know know that my gas gauge stopped working because the floats sometimes crack and fill with gas and sink to the bottom of the tank.

Anyway, for the switch, I found a place online that has them for under $100.

Scroll down to Ford, then open the folder that corresponds to your year, then open the folder for Explorer. Choose your vehicles engine size, then open the folder for switches and relays. The multifunction switch is listed as the turn signal switch. When you click on it, it will show the item and the price at the bottom of the screen. Next to the item name, click the "More Info" button and it will show you a picture of the part. Hope that helps.

thats the one. what i hated most about mine was that the turn signals worked and all of the other lights but the brake lights. it took me two days to try to getting them to work. my one teacher helped me out with it.

say i'm gong to pick up a 87 RX-7 soon.
