Is There a Brake Pedal Stop Pad In The 01 Sport Trac?

Still trying to diagnose a squeak when I brake and was told to check the stop pad.

However, I can't find any information online about it...

Does anyone know if it has one, and, if so, where it's located / how to check it?

Any input appreciated as it's getting worse.

Does the stop pad = brake pad? Kinda like a topper is a cap which is also a camper shell

I assume he's talking about the brake pads, or maybe the wear indicators (squealers) that make noise to let you know your pads are worn out.

As long as your slide pins are lubricated and in good condition, it's always been my experience that brake squeal is caused by not having any/enough anti-squeal stuff on the backs of the pads. Better pad come with good shims and sometimes don't require anti-squeal, but I always put it on and have never had a problem with the pads making noise. I like Permatex brand anti-squeal. I just put a thin layer on the backs of the shims. It's super sticky stuff.

Brake squeal is caused by the brake pads vibrating on the rotor. Anti-squeal cushions the pad and keeps it from vibrating. Wagner ThermoQuiet pads have a cushioning substance on the back of the pads from the factory, but you get what you pay for. Even cheap pads shouldn't make noise as long as you use an anti-squeal product.

Thanks for the details which will come in handy down the road. Turns out it was the caliper slide pins needing to be greased.

Whoever put new brake pads on didn't do last time around...

Good to hear, thanks for the following up. Slide pins and hardware are easy
to service but commonly overlooked. Hopefully specific brake lube was used.
