What is a C. Wells 8†Subwoofer Enclosure?
It is the Subwoofer Enclosure Ford should have built for our Sport Trac’s.
When I bought my Explorer Sport Trac I knew that I would change the Audio System to perform better than the stock system. I even listened to the Pioneer’s Audiophile System and was very upset with the low-end of their subwoofer and enclosure. I did buy one of the factory subwoofer enclosure to see if it could be modified to get a better response. I had no luck on the modification of that enclosure.
The next step was calling around to all the reps I still have contact with in The Car Audio Industry and see if any aftermarket enclosure was being made for our Sport Trac’s. What I found out was very hard for me to believe or even understand. Everyone kept saying it could not be done in that amount of space. Just buy one that goes under the rear seat. I didn’t want one that would fit under the 60% of the rear seat. I still like to lay down the rear seats if I need to. This was not the answer I was hoping for, nor would I settle for that answer. I then set a goal to design and build an Enclosure that would fit in the storage compartment of the Sport Trac. This is what the C. Wells 8†Subwoofer Enclosure will do.
This enclosure will hold a 8†subwoofer with a mounting depth up to 3 13/16â€.
It will allow you to still have storage under the rear seat or lay it down if you prefer it down for your pets.
It will produce a lower Hz response than the Factory and it depends on the Subwoofer you install how low the response will be.
The Enclosure is 0.39 cu. Ft. inside. (Which is above standard for an 8" seal enclosure.)
The Enclosure is made up of both ½†MDF and Fiberglass.
This Enclosure is built with over a quart of fiberglass resign, so the enclosure will not flex under extreme pressure.
The Enclosure comes with a quick disconnect Terminal on the right side away from the factory jack. This way there will not be any chance of the wires being pulled loose if you was to remove the factory jack.
It also comes with speaker wire and poly-fil.
There is a black outer finish on each enclosure to help seal the enclosure even more. Plus it gives the enclosure that finished look.

What is a C. Wells 10" Subwoofer Enclosure?
This is the only custom Sport Trac 10" Enclosure made with an upward firing subwoofer. With this design it will not distort the sound of the subwoofer. It also has enough room under the rear seat to even install a speaker grille over your subwoofer for extra protection. The extra space under the rear seat will let the subwoofer roll out extremely low frequencies into the cab of the Sport Trac. The 10" Enclosure fits under the 60% Rear Seat of the Sport Trac.
