I was at the boneyard today, and pulled this off a '99- is this the replacement fused harness? If so, I'll check the fuse and stick it on snowball, so she doesn't get melted. :D

For everyone's info that hasn't seen one, the dead end of the harness with no connector is just the wiring double backed against itself and taped up, it isn't cut.

Yep, Im a tech at a dealer. They are installed free if yours is covered in the recall.

I would not install that silly thing. Instead, there is a part number on the blue sticker that refers to a kit you can get from Ford that eliminates that "mickey mouse" fused harness. The fuse is supposed to prevent the old red top pressure switch from igniting (due to leaking brake fluid) and burning up your vehicle - nice comfort factor...

The current kit includes a new design black pressure switch and short adapter harness (with no extra fuse). Ford part number is 1L1Z-9F924-AA and costs about $18.

My 98 Mounty had that terrible fused harness which made it almost impossible to get to the oil dipstick on my 5.0. The new harness fits much better and I like having the new pressure switch, too.

Ok, well it looks like I'll opt for the better solution and get the black top kit. Is that the one that's on near-permanent backorder? I'll call on Monday...

Yep national back order as of last week.
