I have a '95 Eddie Bauer with the automatic climate control. Everything worked fine until two days ago.Say, for instance the unit is set to 69 degrees, before the problem started the fan speed would vary acording to how hot is was in the car. Now the fan comes on high regardless of the temp inside. It will blow cold hard and then all of a sudden it switches and will start to blow heat on high. Then it might go back to blowing cold. What the heck is going on here and how do I fix it? Does the automatic climate system suffer from blend door syndrome also? Thanks in advance....Sid

Any input or thoughts? I hate to start cutting on stuff if I don't have to. Thanks....Sid

The actual blend door is the same with manual A/C or EATC. Only the motor actuator that controls it is slightly different. The blend door on either type can stick or it can crack where the actuator plugs in.

The fan speed will default to max if the Blower Motor Speed Controller module fails but that doesn't explain the shift from cold to hot and back again.

My bet would be on the blower control module, it is 'stuck' on high, when it gets to it's preset temp, then falls below, it switches to heat.

When mine went bad, it would either be on high, or off, no in between.

Blend door sticks in hot OR cold mode, no switching anymore.

Um, I guess I do need to ask the obvious, does the little fan symbol show up on the EATC display? If so, it's set for manual speed, and will stay on high until you turn it down, or back to auto. Have you tried rotating the fan speed wheel to see if it slows down?

I believe after reading the posts here that I may indeed have a bad blower control module. Today, I tried the climate control again paying close attention. The overhead console read 70 degrees outside temp. I turned on the climate control in auto and set the temp at 67 degrees. The fan came on high and was blowing cold air. After about 5 minutes the temp went from cold to full hot with the fan blowing full speed. It stayed on hot and blowing full until I turned it off. So, where is this blower control module located? Is it just a swap out for a new one? What would be a good source for new one? Thank you...Sid

The controller is under the hood on the HVAC plenum, right next to the blower motor, held on by two small screws. Easy enough to replace but expensive at the dealer. I bought my last one at a junkyard for $5 but that is risky because, unless recently replaced, they are usually several years old.

fairly easy job, if you have small hands/arms.

You'll need to remove the cruise actuator.

Here's a picture:

It's the thing with the blue label.

Best price I found was at fastpartsnetwork.com, a site sponsor.

I couldn't find the part number on-line, so I emailed them, they answered quickly.
