Has Ford gone too far?

I popped a fuse that goes to my cigarette lighter and she gave me a check engine light until I replaced the fuse...

When I tell people this, they think I'm crazy!

There is probably another sensor powered by that circuit. I don't have a wiring diagram for a Sport-Trac, so I can't tell you what it might be.

So which fuse was it? Likely this was a line which provides the always on keep alive power to the ECM.

Fuse 17, it powers the cigar lighter and provides power to data link

my cig lighter on my sport dont work either i think the fuse is out on it. so i usually now since my lighter dont work i use matches or just go buy a regular lighter

but my check engine light never came on when my cig lighter stopped working

Now I believe the check engine is due to something else...for whatever strange reason the light just happened to go out when I replaced the fuse. Check Engine is back.

BTW, the fuse that runs the cigerette lighter also powers the Data Link Tool when you need to check codes. If the fuse is blown, you'll get now power to the tool.
