I'm debating if I want to install it. I'm surprised my fully loaded truck didn't have it.
I'm more interested in snow traction, the OHV isn't exactly going to burn rubber. It isn't bad in snow but I've been stuck in the past.

My neighbor is talking me out of it, he says it could actually tend to slide sideways if you are on an icy surface vs an open diff that always has a non-spinning wheel. He has an F150 with a TL and he said it could make for interesting turns. He said it is good for boats on a slippery launch.

Yes it will have the tendency to get sideways in light turns on throttle in snow/ice. Now if you slide into the ditch you'll want the limited slip to help you get out......lol

I agree with the above, although I have no experience with LS in snow. I did however grow up near Albany and know that in winter you can get stuck regardless of what you drive and what equipment it has. Control trac and good winter tires and you should be as good as you can be.

LS rear ends wear out and die, and yeah... they slide sideways when it's slick.
open diff + snow tires and you'll be fine. It's fine for me up here in Canada anyway.

Yeah guys the tires sound like good advice, my neighbor said to take the money you are going to spend on the LS and get blizzacks or even studs if you are going on steep mountains. He said the LS is only as good as the traction you can muster on the surface, and you never really need it if your tires are good enough. He said the 4low will do much more than the LS if you get stuck. Also a few bags of tube sand tied down in the back...
