Issues with electronic 4 wheel drive & low range

i just got my explorer from my dad a week ago and i tried testing out the 4wheel drive button and the low range button and neither of the lights turn on and i dont even feel the 4 wheel drive engage i dont know which fuse it is i tried replacing any fuse remotely related to it and nothing seems to work i can do the repairs my self i just dont realy know what im looking for never had a 4 wheel drive suv before my first car was a RWD civic so im not realy used to a transfer case everything else im perfectly familar with

Did you have it in Neutral to test the 4-low range? I think that it is necessary for it to engage. 4-high is on the go though, up to a certain speed, (55 or so).
 






ive tried neutral the 4 wheel drive and the low range button dont work its not just the low range both buttons dont work
 






I have the same i have the same issue. I'v changed the shift motor it worked for about a week or so and then went out again.

any advise would be gratefull.
 






The usual culprit in these cases is the shift motor. It can usually be cleaned and put back together. There's a thread in the useful threads forum on this, and maybe another one in the transmission/transfer case forum. You should be able to find information on this if you use the search engine on this site, because this has been discussed many times.
