Well, i started the repairs last week at work. was only able to work on it off and on, but i finally got the engine out thursday night, and its on the stand right now. Pulled the left side chain guide out and found it broken in two places. will post pictures later when i can get a chance to pull them off the camera. now i am working on pulling the right cassette off.

The more things i remove, the more i find i have to replace. When i pulled the timing cover off, the crank hub seal got messed up, and the ladder frame gasket broke, so now i have to replace the ladder frame gasket. then when i was pulling the heads off, i removed the oil seperator for the pcv, and the dang oil seperater broke. Just old and brittle.

So far, my list of repairs: Replace left and right cassettes, replace crank to jackshaft chain, guide and tensioner, replace left and right headgaskets, pcv oil seperator, ladder frame gasket, injector seal (one broke coming out), spark plugs and wires. thats all i can think of right now. other than the few broken parts, the job is going very well, and smoothly. will be at least a week or two before i can get it all back together and running again, need more money :).

now my question. How do i get that plug on the back side of the engine off? Its the plug that covers the bolt to the jackshaft. i dont see any room to get any kind of pry tool, and there doesnt seem to be any kind of access to it from behind it. do i just hammer through it and replace it? is there any way of doing it that doesnt involve destroying it?

thanks

i guess you have done this already, but you just tap it on the edge and it flips, then you just pull in out!
