I had put a thread on that i have a sound that I thought was the cv shaft. Whenever I put pressure on the x while going up a steep incline or having to pick up speed quick, I hear a little bit of a thud, thud , thud, thud sound. Not extremely loud, but I can hear it and feel it a little in the pedals. Its slowly getting worse since I first heard it going up Pikes Peak. Then it only did it on a steep upgrade while turning right.

Today I decided to Jack it up and turn the wheels back and forth to see if there was an unusual sound. I know cars pretty well but am ignorant when it comes to trucks and suvs.

When I turned the wheels back and forth it would make a thud sound when I changed direction. Is this normal for a 4-wheel drive? Both sides do it.

Check your U-joints in the driveshafts

^What he said.

The boots are fine on the half shafts on the front...do you think I need to check the main drive?
