1. How do you remove the Radio from the 02 Explorer, 6 CD Changer Style?
2. Has anyone changed their Trans. Cooler to an aftermarket larger Cooler, on a 02 Explorer?

1) pull the trim around the radio off. start at the top and pull evenly. It isnt screwed in or anything just some clips. Then there are two screws holding in the radio. Very easy.

2) the trans coolor is very easy to replace. it is mounted in a place w/ lots of room to work around. Just remove the hoses unbolt the old one add the new one and reconnect the hoses.

Thanx. for the reply Explorer04, due to the complexity of the Transmission and the filling of the Fluid, should I be concerned about the amount of Fluid that is lossed, should I attempt to plug the lines or even attempt to refill the replacement Cooler.

I should maybe mention, the reason I am considering replacing the Trans. Cooler is because I have a newly rebuilt Transmission, a few months ago, I was pulling a larger Tent Trailer and managed to over heat the Trans., or so it seems. I looked out my side mirror and noticed smoke coming from, what looked like the Trailer, first thought it might be an axle bearing on the Trailer.
I never made it to the Trailer, when I noticed the smoke was actually coming from the Explorer, looked under and noticed the fluid leaking on the exhaust, it seems that it was coming out of the overflow, so my Trans. Guy claims. Apparently, Ford came up with the idea, so I've been told, that the A/C unit assists in the cooling of the Trans, if the Trans, starts to indicate overheating and you are to receive a warning, in the dash, of this overheating, I never noticed the overheating signal.
