I have a pair of RE SE 12's that I am planning on building a box for in the near future. It will be a sealed box built to RE's specs. The subs will be run into a 2 ohm mono load. The question I have is on the amp. I have been thinking about the JBL 1200.1 for the last few weeks. My absolute limit on spending is $250(including shipping). I've never heard anyting bad about MA Audio, and get can that amp a little cheaper that the JBL, and the specs are pretty comparable. Any opinions on which one is better?

MA Audio HK-1997 ( can get new for under $200 shipped off Ebay)

JBL 1200.1 (can get used for around $250 shipped off Ebay)

JBL 1200.1 all the way. I know several people with that amp and it is actually underrated(unlike the MA). It literally POUNDS a set of 15's. I can only imagine what it can do to 12's. Those are RE's so they should take the beating just fine.

Both amps are fine by me.... but you'll have room to expand with the JBL, because of its 1 ohm capability.... (and I've seen the thread at explorer.net, its full of misinformation... tell that guy that thinks ma is made by audiobahn to check his sources again...)

i have the JBL 1200.1 and was using it to push to RF HE2 15's. It hit pretty hard. IT's also a pretty small amp and very efficient, no headlight dimming unless i was really crankin' it.
