Jet Powertech Performance Module

Has anyone used a jet powertech chip? I'm thinking of purchasing one and wanted some feedback. thanks

I have the Jet power chip in my 98 4.0 ohv Explorer. I did not notice a tremendous difference in power but I did get a few mpg more. I got more of a power difference with the BBK TB, Borla exhaust,and K&N filter.

I noticed a change in shift points and mpg. The truck doesn't need to downshift going up hills anymore 65 w/od just climes right up and went from 200 to 250 on highway driving.

I have used the Jet modulein my 98 4.0 SOHC for about seven months including a 4k mile trip. I have found a noticeable difference in throttle response and overall power. I use it with the cat-back Borla and a panel K&N filter. I am going to post the chip for sale on this site as I'm going to step up to the supercharger and a recalibrated chip to match.

Before you spend money on the chip/modul, check out the latest Car and Driver magazine. There is an article in it on after market chip/performance modules. They said it wasn't worth the money for the limited/minimal gains, plus you end up spending more in the long run because you'd have to use Premium fuel. I believe that was their conclusion.

Yeah, the C&D review said that they actually lost power with the JET Chip. The only 2 that they said were worth the money were the new Hypertech power programmer for the GM and the Superchips module they tested in the new Cougar. Of course, these were all on different vehicles, but that isn't the first time that I've saw tests where the JET cost horsepower.
