Hey everyone,
Its been a while since I posted on this forum, but right now i have a kicker comp hooked up to a 150.2 amp... the thing hits but I'm debating getting a 12w6v2 hooked up to a jl 500.1 amp. Is this a drastic improvement, will it hit hard and everything just looking for everyones opinions on this sub... I found a reliable seller on ebay that I can buy this sub for about half the price of a w7 and I'm just stricken of cash right now, and I just cant deal w/ the w7's power right now. Just checkin up to make sure this is a good buy.. btw im getting this sub for 240 on ebay and its around 420 retail... If anyone has any other sugestions, ive already looked into id max's, brahmans, jbls, eclipses, infinitys, and mmat's procast and juggernaut series. thanx for any opinions or help on the system

A JL Audio 500/1 would be perfect for the 12w6v2 I just got back from the USAC finals and seen and heard a few run that way. They Rocked.

I enjoy JL audio very much. I used to have 4 12W0's. Now I have two of the eclipse 12's, 8820's with the huge surround and aluminum cone. The JL amp is an awesome idea. That amp is a reliable amp and will run good clean power. I noticed that the JL hits low bass well, but the eclipse hits the low bass like a 15. The JL will be louder SPL, but the eclipse will me a better all around sub. The eclipses are also very, very hard to blow also.

Just giving my 2 cents for what it is worth

Thats a really good question...I used to have a two kicker comps ran off an IX405D,the things absolutely pounded in a sealed box too. Kicker makes subs specifically for SPL...JL makes subs more for SQ, however, I have heard several w6v2's and they really arent much less of subs than w7's, they are just more accurate. I like them, they are pound dollar for dollar. I now have 4 JL 10w3's running off two IX405D's. As far as amps go, the JL amps are soooo nice. I would love to own a few, there is a reason why you see the EVERYWHERE. Because they work. Anything that can run the RMS power at volts between 1.3 and 5 or whatever it is, is simply amazing. THe amps are just awesome, they arent calls A or B but they are very nice, and if I had the money I would be sporting them in my enclosure. Some other amps to consider are PPI, Phoenix Gold Tantrums, and I like the new Diamond Audio line if you can afford it. Good luck, if you get the w6v2 I would seal it, no venting, it will sound sloppy if its not sealed.

well right now its hooked up to a kicker 150.2, it already hits harder than the old sub i had hooked up to it... the question that i have is how much harder will it hit once i get the 500.1 in there w/ a 1 farrad cap? will it be even considerably higher than this, because im def looking foward to having more bass.

How many watts (rms) is that kicker amp putting out? The 12w6v2 optimum range is 400 watts rms. If your amp is not putting out that many watts, the jl 500/1 will defintely give you more bass and hit harder.
