I am thinking about getting one of these. I would also replace my current sub amp with a JL Audio 1000.1. The reason I am thinking of buying this sub is because I can get better sound than 2 W3s in a smaller space. That way I can still use the back for cargo.

I know they are overpriced but sometimes you have to pay more for what works best for the situation. I can get one for 650 locally or I could find one on the net for less.

Any recommendations are appreciated. I am not sure if that would be the best amp?

go for it .

the w7 is the best sub out there in my opinion , and $650 is a great price . that sub only needs 750 watts . I would even consider the 500.1 or poss. the fosgate bd500 . If you buy it online you only get a 90 warranty . I'd buy local to be safe . Goodluck .Rand:D

imo its overhyped and by the end of the year you will be able to buy them for much cheaper. check out the thread leenjen just posted about his new audiobahn sub.

I have heard one in an Acura running off of 500 watts and I couldn't believe it was only one 12. The shop I prefer does not carry Audiobahn and I really don't want to buy off the net. I would rather deal with a local business on things like this. I have looked at the post on the Audiobahn and it definately is a sweet looking sub.

The amp and sub are in and I have got to tell you it unbelievable. I have had systems in every car I have ever owned and this ONE sub blows all the others away. It sounds so big and so loud it seems impossible that it could be a single sub. I paid $650 for the sub, which is about the same price as I would have paid for 2 decent subs and it sounds better.

If you don't believe it, come down to Naples FL and I will give you a demonstration. The guy from the shop called me after I came home and said one if the guys that worked there was three cars ahead of me on my way home. He told him that his car was shaking from the bass in my X three cars back.

It really is impressive!

Yeah he just gave me a demonstration and all i have to say is................. Your gonna go deaf hahaha. Yeah man it is an amazing sounding sub. Who needs more then one 12?

told ya

Flames look cool , but don't do much for sound ,ha ha .........:bounce:

Is this some sort of reference to Audiobahn?

I have two 10" W7's...and originally i had a RF500a2 amp pushing my W3's...and i hooked that up to only ONE of my subs...and it BARLEY pushed it.

If you get a 12"...DEFINETLY get at least a 1000 watts to it..im pushin a 1000 watts to each 10 and they POUND! :)

WHAT?!?!?!

OK bad joke......
But those JL W7s are absolutely amazing. Bill, do you have any pics of where and how you installed it? i.e. pics of the box.
I've got a JL 500/1 into a 10W6 DVC in the stealthbox. Probably stick with that for a while, but I've felt those W7's more than I've heard them, and they ROCK!!
Karl

Karl,

The 500/1 actually puts out from 605 to 633 watts at 4 ohms. If this sub was any louder I wouldn't be able to sit in the car with it. I believe the 12W7 is a 3 ohm speaker so I'm not sure what the actual wattage is from the 500/1 at that load.

I will get some pics as soon as I can.

yeah i was standing outside of Bill's car like 3 or 5 feet away and it is more powerful then any 2 12's that i have sit in the back seat infront of. When i sat inside man....... Bill really man you should go to your doctor and ask him how long your ear drums are gonna hold up. :)

are you sure????

Bill, I thought the JL amps put out 500 watts into any load between 4 ohms and 1.5 ohms. At least, their ads claim that. Have you seen a higher measurement? If so, I'm a happy man!
