I have 2 300 watt continuous fosgate subs, would 1 12 inch w7 blow them away, is it worth ditchin this system for 1?

If you hook up a 1000/1 JL amp, you will do more then just blow them Fosgates away!!! ;)

I love my 10" w7 with 500/1 amp. :) Slames like crazy. I would even bet that my single 10" hits harder then your current setup?!!?

What model Fosgates do you have?

400 watt he's

Okay, so according to the specs on RF's website, the one-way xMax on those subs is .51"... The 12" W7's one-way xMax is 1.15", when we calculate out volume of air moved by your two subs vs. one 12" W7, we get approximately 230 in^3 vs 260 in^3... Not a ton of difference, but it'd probably be noticable. Then consider that the W7 is slightly less efficient though(Your subs are 87 dB, W7 is 86.2 dB)... All other things being optimal, a 12" W7 will barely outperform (assuming you are looking for bass) your two RFs... For the price of that woofer, I'd stick with what you have...

A single 10" W7, having .9" of one-way xMax, can be expected to move about 141 in^3 of air, and has an efficiency of 84.3 dB... Your current setup will easily outdo 1 10" W7.

I agree with B94Sport, stick with what you got, unless you plan on entering sound-offs or something. Personally, I would not spend more than $300.00 for a Sub woofer. That W7 is way too much money for Bass....Just my thoughts.

I must be missing somthing here but, my last sytem was two 12" HX2's powered by a FR 800.2. This Rockford fosgate system didnt even come close to my new system!!! Not even close. Why? I tried dif size box's/ ported and sealed, never made much of a dif. Yes every thing was connected right. It was installed by me and a friend who co-owns a local well known Audio shop.

You seem to know much more about audio then me, help me understand why my old system was out perform by a single 10" sub. My buddy who's been working in the bussiness for about 5 years who i trust very much installed every thing correctly.

I do understand the numbers you wrote above, your logic is way off!? Lets say i have two 12" K-mart brand subs that can push more volume of air then a W7... so the cheap stuff will hit harder? Is this what yer saying? Ive found numbers do mean somthing, but not nearly as much as people think.

InS0mNiAc, just go out and check a few subs out. Make your own mind up!! We all have dif tastes, and should only use are opinions as a base. Because that's all they are... "opinions"! ;)

Which model HX2s did you have? How were they wired?

DVC and I went thru every wire diagram!

EDIT: sorry they were punch HX2's

Don

2 ohm VCs or 4 ohm VCs?

4ohm

The W7 again is the best subwoofer that you can purchase. Either the 10 W7 or 12W7 would destory your current set up and thats just the truth. Do not give me crap about this post or talk crap on the best subwoofer on the face of the earth. You give me crap and I will respond to every post. Honestly those numbers mean crap up there..... If you knew the truth you would know that the w7 kills that current set up. Just accept it dude.

Hey man, I stand behind what I feel is the truth and what I feel is correct. So if you try to smash my sub, you better do it without me around because I will always stick by products that I feel this sure about. What can I say... i am a diehard loyal person.

lol, you the man chris. i'm still wishing i would have come by and seen your truck this spring when i was in the area. perhaps, we would have been two diehard loyal explorer owners

I love watch'n these little debates....:bounce:

expo5.0 - next time you are out here let me know and well get together and go romping... diehard and loyal style.

show diehard loyal person i show person spent many clams

The numbers mean crap? So I guess the manufacturers just pull numbers out of their ass and slap them in the specs? Of course, JL is not like the others so their numbers are true!!! Geez... And the W7 is not the best woofer on the face of the earth, I have been over that in other posts as well.

Back on track:

Insomniac, if you really want to spend the money on that woofer, and buy a new amp for it as well, go for it... It's your money, your opinions, your ears that have to listen to it. Me, I could never justify spending that much on a sub, and I firmly believe that it is waaay too hyped up.

InSOmNiac, think about the size of the amp you will need to power that thing, as well as the electrical upgrades, i.e., higher output alternator, capacitor, wiring, etc., to power that amp. $$$$$$
