June Invasion! 12th & 13th

You should be able to get the from Atlas. I think that is the bearing housing for the rear output shaft. Sounds like a possible good time to upgrade to the larger output and 1350 u-joints. I don't see a listing of Atlas parts on they're website, so it's probably gonna require a call.

You're just begging for more tech questions, aren't you..? :D

Already talked to Advance Adapters - - its the tail shaft housing, cost is $138. More of a "vein" than a crack (top surface ridge, not a separation of the metal) and we talked for a few minutes on the forging process, and whether or not a replacement is required or not. There is a second fine crack on the bottom part of the housing that is of greater concern. No fluids leaked, but probably just a matter of time until I'm holding everyone up on a trail in Moab. . .

So, (Tech Guy), why the 1350 U-Joints? Would rather a blow a U-Joint than pretzel a drive shaft - - and at the risk of sounding stoopid:p: what am I going to ask for at Advance Adapters? The tail shaft housing that accommodates the 1350 U-Joint?

Realize a photo or two would help, but 2 days of 40 m.p.h. winds killed the old camera, haven't had a chance to grab a new one yet...

Paul

Paul

Actually I think the 1350 U-joint change would require different output shafts that would allow you to use a yolk that would fit a 1350 u-joint. You can always pretzel a rear drive shaft, even with the stock 1310 u-joints if you catch a rock just right like I did in Tahuya. It would require new driveshafts of at the least new ends to accommodate the larger u-joints as well

If you are curious, just ask AA how you could upgrade to 1350 u-joints.

Since you just have a vein on your shaft (housing), I would just put it back together as is.

got the truck back.

kevin i wasnt able to get the new tcase put on the trans when it was out. i just didnt have time since i needed the truck back the next day. ( the shop was closed once i had a car to borrow and the tcase is in north tacoma by pauls house kinda (33rd n pearl st)

and the shop i had do it is in puyallup. im happy with their work...

turns out i had the wrong clutch disk and Pres. plate in there anyways. not sure what it was off but id didnt fit the flywheel and somehow ruined some of the bolts the guy said...lol.

Hmm, debating whether or not this would be a good idea for me. Paul is interested in my '77 bronco axle and this way I would be able to deliver it to him. On the other hand, this would be a looong trip from Bend, OR.

Anyone have pics of the trails you'll be running?

Here is some information but from what I hear from Kevin, this may be inaccurate (over-rated). The report is likely a couple years old;

so kevin what time can i show up to get this tcase started ASAP?

I should be home about 6, but you can show up earlier and get started. My nephew should be there.

how early is early? LOL!

There is always somebody home at my place. Let me know what time you wanna come over and I'll let my nephew know. He can even show you where the tools and jack are if you wanna get started. The more you do before I get there, the less I have to help with :)

and the more beer we can consume...LOL!

i had a blast this weekend!

Sorry I didn't make it up for the g2g....ran out of money:-( Plus, I just got done with finals at school, so i've been a zombie for a few days!!

well we all had fun.

sry to say but a X on 31's prolly wouldnt have made the entrance to the trail....i know i had alot of trouble on 35's and i hit my sliders pretty good. i lost alot of paint after i inspected them today lol!

phil had me beat in a lot of places because he is locked in the rear where im open in the back still :(

we only had a few dings...u know. who cares about body damage? (paul LOL!)

i hit my passenger side pretty good on a tree and phil caught his pass. rear door just as good on the same tree.

but i think the big story of the day was when kevin went to give me a tug when i got stuck and lost his swing away tire carrier since someone wrapped over the swing away and the full weight of my truck killed it :(

Pictures??

Yeah, it was an interesting weekend.

Kevin had a hard time with his width and turing radius. There were a couple turns he had to 'multi point' it.

You had pretty good ground clearance but being double open, not enough driving wheels to get through the peanut butter mud.

Me, not enough ground clearance. There were spots Kevin took extra time at that I was able to get right through.

I'm glad we all had to winch up Peanut Butter Hill.

Too bad we got such a late start and didn't bring maps. I figured Kevin knew his way around.

Now that I look at a map, the Lower Mainline trail was about the only one down where we were, we would have needed to run a fair distance on the gravel to get to the rest.

Andy, post up some pictures!

i will today when i get some faster internet! (using in my phone tethered to my laptop :D)

and yea. for sure now that my tcase is done and AMAZING! butter smooth shifting to low allllllllllll day long :D

anyways gears and a rear locker are for sure next buy. starting to scope...im looking at just doing a lunch box locker in the rear...
