P0304 means that a misfire on cylinder 4 was detected.
What is your question about the toe in? If it's wrong, it should be adjusted by an alignment shop.

hello all i have a 96 explorer 4x4 that i picked up yesterday and i have found a few proms with it. It shows Code PO304 it has toe in and a really hard shifting. I appreciate any help with these issues and im sure i will find more.

Fix the misfire before condemning the transmission. Not gonna shift right unless the engine is running right...
