Hi,

Just bought 4 cobra-r 17X9" rims. I havent bought my tires for it yet. I have 235/75/15 firestones on there right now and am going to get the recall money ($550). Since my new tires will be 265/70/17, what do I do about my spare tire? I obviously cant get a 17" spare because it wont fit the spare rim. Do I just get a new 235/75/15 and if I get a flat put that on there untill I can get to a tire dealership? The 265/70/17 is much bigger that the 235/75/15 so I will be lopsided until I can get to a tire dealership to get the new tire...

Maybe I am missing something and there is an easy solution to this. What does everyone else do about their spare tire when they get bigger rims?

Last thing--I am planning on getting Yokohama geolander+ a/t for the 265/70/17. Anybody used these? Opinions?

Thanks a lot!

Easy solution is to get a spare that is about the same size as the 4 normal tires. Just find out the outer diameter of your new tire/wheel combo. Then find a 15" tire that has that same diameter

the stock tires are 28.9"
the 265/70/17 are 31.6"

if you dont want to change the speedometer so it works with larger diameter tires, why not get something closer to the stock height.

265/60/17 are 29.5" tall, or 255/60/17 are 29" tall.

then the spare will work a little better, and you dont have to adjust the speedo/odometer
