Hi all I live in New Zealand and was looking for a 4x4 suitable for towing a boat and big enough to carry camping gear.
I found a 1 owner Explorer NZ New ( i.e. not a Jap import).
The guy seemed genuine not so sure now though.
Test drove vehicle and no problems apparent. But on the long trek home the self levelling suspension warning light came on and a strange rumbling vibration became apparent.
The seller said new rear shocks had been replaced and he was telling the truth except the air shocks were replaced with non-air shocks and the air lines were just cut. I've no idea what effect that has on the handling.
As for the rumbling rotating type vibration I don't know whether it's something in the drive line or the front hubs.
I quite like the vehicle I just wish I were a better buyer.
I hate buying cars.
Dave
