Ok this is just a small informational thread to let everyone know how easy and how much of a difference cleaning your IAC makes.. First off I have a late model 1997 (pre-98 features).. with the 4.0 SOHC. My IAC was located under the black SOHC cover on the top middle of the engine (4 small 7mm bolts hold the cover on, very easy to take off. The IAC was located directly under the middle of the cover. Two small bolts (8mm i think, or 7mm) took off the IAC with an easy electrical plug to remove. I read up a bunch on cleaning the IAC because I heard what all it does to your idling, how much smoother it makes it. THIS IS COMPLETELY TRUE. I really didn't have much problem with my idle, i would get a little vibration here and there, but in the winter when my truck sits overnight it would want to die when I started it up. I noticed a HUGE difference after I cleaned out the IAC (do a search, there is a thread for cleaning the IAC with pictures. I followed the directions as posted and waited for the IAC to dry then reassembled. DONT FORGET to unplug your negative battery cable for 10 mins before you reassemble the IAC, this will reset the computer and re-measure the airflow. Anyway my truck had NO vibrations and idled even better than before, hopefully it lasts. I have no doubt it will solve my cold weather start-up problems as well. I encourage everyone who hasnt done this to do it. If you have ANY technical skills at all and can read directions you do NOT have to be a mechanic to try this. HAPPY CLEANING, I hope this influences someone to clean it out, it's worth it.

THANKS to the writer of the IAC cleaning post, and to the board for all the help they've given me. I really appreciate all everyone has helped me with.
