2006 Ford Explorer
Ok my name is Toby Hood and I have been in the military for the last 17 years. The first explorer we owned ran great. It was an 03 ford explorer the only thing we had to fix was where and tear. This second one we have owned has cost me alot of money. When we drove it offf the lot it was not long befor we had to replace the transmision in it. After that we had to replace all the plugs. which is fine(normal wear and tear). Know the enging is running rough when i put it in gear. It did it in the past and I satrted putting in the high grade gas and the check eingin light went off. then jmy teenage son put the mid grade gas and know it is running rough again with the check eninge light on. I checked the internet and it says it is suppose to take jsut the regualr gas and not the high grade gas. I was hoping someone could help me with where i need to start.

Welcome to the forum.

First thing to do: Get the CEL codes read and post them here. Most autopart stores will read them for free, or you can get a decent reader for ~$20.

Welcome to the site, and sorry to hear about your troubles. Like Bob said, head over to your local auto parts store and have them scan your codes. They'll most likely tell you what the description is, but post them here and we can help more.

Your Explorer should definitely be running on regular unleaded, not premium. Wonder if the previous owner had a tuner on it, and has a premium gas tune on it? I dont know much about tuners, but I know the engine wont run right if you use the wrong gas for your tune.

Welcome.
