1994 Explorer XLT 4x4
Just joined the group, and happy to announce I got my 94 XLT 4x4 last week and absolutly love it! Had 83,000 miles on it and paid 6,300. Had questions concerning upgrading some features. Is it possible to put a moonroof in it, since it has the verticle ridges on the top of the roof. My dealer told me I couldn't. Also I'm interested in having running boards put on. Anyone know how much this usually cost? Thanks

the whole moonroof thing is just one big assed debate... some say go for it.. but others (myself included) say that its not good for the structural integrity of the car. If you DO decide to get one, be prepared for sqeaks, creaks and maybe even some leaks

LOL.........well put........ :) :D :redexp:

Thanks. I guess I won't get it.

I think you can get the step bars from Ford for like $100-150. Search for "running boards" or "step bars" and you should find threads with more info and places to get them from

yes you can put in a roof - power or pop, and unless you're gonna do major rock climbing(body twisting) it won't effect the body intergrity at all, as for leaks as long as you go with a reputable manufacture - such as webasto, this should not be an issue. i would stick to a pop roof only from a cost stand point, the additional monies are better spent on other mods.
