I just installed my new Alpine CDA-9833 HU with the iPod interface which allows you to control the iPod from the HU. The sound quality is great from the new HU and from the iPod, I just need to bypass my factory amp. Controling the iPod frtom the HU is quite convenient, you can search by Artist, Album, or Playlist. My only complaint is that it takes awhile to scroll through album and artist names, but other than that I am very happy with my new purchase.

Cool! May your HU's life be like toilet paper: Long and useful. :)

and easily ruined when wet :p

I just got the Alpine CDA-9851 (2005 model) and it handles the iPod just as well, also handles my Sirius tuner very nicely. Its not even in stores yet and I got it on eBay for $199.

Hm. I hope the new series isn't like the 9851. Seems like a step back IMO.

I'm not too worried about the preout voltage since I'm not running any amps or subs in my system. Since I mainly listen to talk the internal amp works just fine.
