I just performed the 00M12 this morning with relatively high success with the exception of two minor casualties.

1. I managed to snap the bracket in half that holds the EVR/VIS solenoid when I was trying to remove the bottom connector of the solenoid. Fortunately, I was able to super glue it back together almost perfectly. I let it try for a bit before I bolted it back down. I bolted it down with no issues.

2. I managed to snap the T-line for the windshield washer fluid. I heard two snaps while reinstalling the upper intake manifold, which did alarm me, but couldn't see anything obvious and didn't have any idea off the top of my head what could have snapped. I reinstalled and torqued. It started right up with the initial chain rattle and then quiet. I ended up going to checkers auto here and found a perfectly suitable replacement. I installed the new piece and the wiper fluid works like a champ now. It was probably good as the old piece was extremely brittle from heat.

Other observations and a question. I discovered that the volume induction plug was already installed. Also when I shined my light into the tensioner whole the tensioer looked silver. I've had the vehicle since 2003. It's an 01 sport 2WD. It was a rental in California before I owned it based on the information I could find on the VIN.

Can I safely assume that my engine has the up to date timing chain and tensioner kit already installed based on the silver tensioner and volume reduction plug being already installed? Nobody else has worked on this vehicle except me since we've owned it. And after today, it's in prime shape with only 87.5K on it. I had no chain rattle before and I have no chain rattle after the install (except for the initial startup after the tensioner was installed).

Thanks in advance for any response.
