Just bought my 03 XLT 4.6L 4WD Sport yesterday with 43,000 and a 75,000 mile warranty. "Certified Vehicle" Also have the 2 day California return policy with a restocking fee.

The front brakes are squealing really bad and the back brakes or rear end are whineing. Also when I go to slow down, right before I come to a complete stop the engine starts skipping/jumping and then it will just shut off. Its done this 3 times today with normal driving. I'm not gonna sit here and pay $17K for a vehicle that is doing this and I'm not very pleased with these issues. Maybe someone else has this issue.

Needless to say its going back to the delership, really liked the car but I'm gonna go for a newer model and pay the extra price.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the new-to-you Ex, but sounds like you might be making the best decision on returning it. Depending on the restocking fee they can charge you, might be worth seeing if they can fix it if everything else is what you want.

I would not buy a vehicle that new with that many problems. I have an 05 with 20,000 miles and have not had any problems.

There is a dealer update to you computer that may fix your stalling. I just had it done to mine (cross your fingers that it's fixed, otherwise I'll have to find another x that my wife likes. . . . . guh!)

Well, I decided to keep it b/c they gave me a bumper to bumper 75k or 6yr warranty at cost opposed to the $1600 they normally charge.
Said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. When I got home the brakes starting squeaking again. Guess now if it breaks they'll have to fix it. But I'm gonna take it to another dealership this time.

change the brake pads. And if need the rotors. They are not covered anyway. noisy brakes don't mean they will break. Get the right pads and she won't squeal, unless they are worn down now and that's the warning.

I bought mine used and she had issues right away. Its never addressed by the dealer even it it said they did a 2000point inspection, they probably didn't.

I think its best for you to go ahead when your ready to do some preventative maintenance. Change all the fluids, because The dealer probably never even checked your transfer case. DO a brake flush, coolant flush (new thermostat) and change your serpentine belt. I will bet the tranny fluid is black.

I bought mine with 45k on her. . She has 0ver 70k now and runs better than when I picked her up.

Good luck and enjoy.

Search this forum for you symptoms. The whining in the back could be a bad rear end or bad bearings. Both are common and my car had both. I have had a lot of problems with the car, and though covered my my warranty plus the extended that I bought, the hassle is frustrating. I like the car too.
