I had the dreaded "see dealer" message or the reversed displayed video on my 2013 Explorer. Replacing the camera fixed that issue but now I have a new one. If you look at the attached picture, you will see that the white lines on the screen are ALWAYS rolling to the left even if I am going straight back or to the right. Is there a way to fix this? Is it a big deal to have it doing that?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Forum.
When a camera is replaced, it should be programmed to the vehicle it is installed in. Did you have that done?
I'm guessing the setting chosen is Active + Fixed.

There are multiple "compatible" cameras available. I can't say for sure but I don't think the 2013 explorers had the smart backup guides. At least on my 13 limited it wasn't there. I'm fairly sure that the smart guides are a camera hardware function and cannot be disabled from the Explorer settings so to get rid of it you'll have to change cameras to the actual "correct" model.

Hi Mike. Do you have the Active Park Assist feature? I believe the curving lines are part of that. My 2011 Limited had it.

Peter,

I don’t have it on my 13 Limited. I thought I had “all” the options available but it has been 11 years. I know I accidentally bought a replacement camera with the active park assist lines and after doing some searching was not able to figure out a way to disable them on the display. I ended up having to buy another camera with the exact part number.

Assuming that my build is not just messed up somehow at least for 13 it doesn’t seem like it was part of the limited package by default. But then again, I don’t really know for sure so I could easily be wrong and maybe it’s just mine

I attempted to find tbe 2013 Explorer Order Guide but it looks like it was never posted here. I do recall that the 2013 Explorer was a short production run.

How short? Does this mean that some parts are going to be difficult to resource? I ask, because I believe I got one of the last rack and pinions for the model year. It was a PITA to find!! National backorder from Ford.

I'm not sure but it has been discussed in this forum. Also, I would guess that it shares many parts with the Explores up to the 2016 refresh.
