Just broke a new barrier for me. Now that I am a 200K club member I cannot wait for everything to fall apart or off the truck in the next 6 months;)

Still got the first engine and tranny in there and so far so good. It may be **** but I change the tranny fluid, gasket and pan once a year. I'm thinking about an aux filter but at this age....?

Cheers to whoever is with me. Maybe I'll still have her when she breaks 300K:chug:

Congratulations....

An aux tranny filter is indeed a worthwhile addition, I have one and am glad I do.

Good luck.....

congrats
is that with the stock tranny, and engine you said.......
i sure hope my 92 lasts that long it currently has 117,000 on it and running strong
i had a 89 Mercury cougar that had 190,000 on it and it ran like a dream, only probs were oil leak then discovered it had a broken ¿tie rod? i think.

my grandfather would say.....
"its just getting broke in"

:chug: heres to another 100,000 for ya!

My '91 is at 114k and I just started to think about lifting it :D

Hopefully I'll have as good of luck as you did with the stock tranny, but have a 5.0 in there by 200k ;)

Congrats, and as EliteConcept already mentioned, here's to another 100k!! :chug:

Thanks! Yeah, its all original. I did have two heads that cracked and sent them to machine shop but other than that all is well. She has never run better since I joined this site last Fall. Even though I made the switch late I am glad I am running synthetic. I ran Amsoils Engine Flush through, cleaned out the intake with two cans of Powerfoam, and then filled her up with 5-30 and she started so fast, even in the super cold mornings here in Chicago. Mileage increased as well. Another favorite, Jacobs wires--my idle is locked at 650-700 and was never there before with Bosch. I always hovered around 900rpm. Maybe the wires deliver/carry a better current.

My only tranny problem was when I changed the fluid and filter for the first time and didn't put enough fluid in. Real late, harsh shifts. I just do it every year because its so cheap to do and why not? I'm going to fabricate an intake out of hot water pvc this weekend so I'll let you know what happens.

:chug: to another 100K!!

That Amsoil is doin its job!

Can't say its been in there long enough but every little bit helps. Man, if I only knew about oil bypass filters and aux tranny filters when I got it she'd be close to brand new.

To all, I swear that when I get a new car I am putting Amsoil's remote bypass oil filter on. After you read about it at Amsoil's website you all will do the same. It's just too cheap not to.

Oh It filters down to like 1 micron, and everything under 5 will virtually not hurt the engine. The guy at my local shop was talking all about it. Says its the best thing he did to his F-150. Only downside is that thing is like $200 bucks right?

Hey Rossneag :chug:

Congrats and thanks for all the helpfull posts.:D:

I'm at the blown head/gasket stage with 102k on my 91. I also was late to the synth/amsoil table but I'm impressed so far. When you did your heads, what did the machine shop do to them and what other mods were done at the same time as the heads?
Thanks

im almost with ya! at 150,000! ...dos your truck smoke some out the tail pipe?

to another 100,000 :chug:

Congrats! I don't like seeing posts like this, it makes my '94 with 85,000 miles feel like a baby

Oahrens,

Glad to help. When I had the heads pulled here's what I would do if I were you and if I could do it again:

Get a compression check and pull any head that is low and have it machined
Replace fuel injectors (about $200 for a set of 19lb)
Replace rings- definitely
Valve job and valve stem seals
And insist on the Ford gaskets (much better)

Or, get a remanufactured engine for about $1200-1500 and have them put it in, probably another $500-1000 depending on where you are.

Shorty,

She smokes a little at start up. I know my rings are shot b/c I go through a little oil every 2-3 weeks. If I get lucky she'll just keep burning a little. Cheaper than another rebuild.

PS I finished my PVC induction and wrapped in reflective tape a few times. Believe it or not, its quieter than the old stock tube. I can feel just a little more juice b/c I already had the opened air box and K&N. But I am happy with the $15 it cost me and I know its better than that old POS air tube.
