I'm thinking about putting on a k&n filter on my 92 explorer xlt, im not sure if it will make much of a difference or not. Can someone tell me if it will be a big difference or will I barely be able to tell?
hey man you will most likely notice a difference in your proformance although if you go with a bigger tire or more of an aggresive tread you will take away what performance and gas mileage that you have gained i went from 16to17 mpg adding the K&N filter 18to20 adding bf goodrich all terrians 31x10x50 no I'm back to 16to17 mpg
Drick:
Go a couple of steps more. 1) disconnect the vaccuum line from the intake manifold to the
back top half of the air cleaner-this disables the hot-cold air blend valve and will allow your engine to breathe coldest air possible. 2) Insulate as much of you explorer's intake tract as you are willing to do. reason is to keep that incoming air as cold as possible.
Installing the k&n WILL NOT void the warranty. Air filters have to be replaced periodically, and the k&n is much better than an OE(original equipment) air filter. It never has to be replaced, only cleaned every 50,000 miles.
