I know people get better performance from K&N air filters than say the dealer fliters. The reason for this is that the K&N filters have larger pore sizes, allowing larger debris to enter the engine.

What I'm wondering is whether these filters will invalidate, or give a dealer a reason to invalidate, a factory warrentee? Furthermore, does the different pore size of a K&N filter really increase the risk of debris ingestions for city driving, highway driving, and offroad?

Thanks,

Jetmaker, vehicle manufacturers are not allowed to void the warranty just because aftermarket parts are on the vehicle. (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.)

there is no way a k&n filter allows more or larger size debris to enter the engine. its designed to meet or exceed OEM standards. this is the reason you pay $50 it, because it allows more air and cleans just the same or better.

Yes, where did you get your information from about larger pore sizes?
