How is it worth the extra money? Have you compared it to anything else?
ALL of the filter elements mentioned are about the same thing. The variations in intake tubes will make make no real performance difference on a '95+ Explorer. This is different on a 91-'94, where any aftermarket tube will help.
K&Ns run higher prices because they are CARB certified, not because they are a better filter. They spent the time, effort, and money to get their filters tested and certified and pass those expenses on to their customers. Of course, CARB certification is important if you live in an area with emmision testing that requires it. If you don't live in an area with testing, there really isn't reason to spend the extra dough on the K&N (except for the looks factor).
