keeps dying when i put it in gear

it runs fine, idles fine, then i put it in gear and it dies, i've even floored the gas pedal and dropped it in drive, and it jumps -but still dies, but it idles like new. nobody can figure this out, can anyone here?

Torque converter?

It does kind of sound like the torque converter clutch isn't releasing. Does it act like a manual transmission with a stuck clutch?
