Hi all
My key less key pad quit working yesterday. When I press the bottons the pad lights up so I know there is power there and the keys are working. But it wont work with either code, the one I entered or the factory code. It also wont lock the doors when the last two bottons are pressed.I dont see a fuse listed for the system. Does and know which one it is. Also my power mirrors quit working. The fuse checks out ok on that circut.

I would start by checking all fuses, including those in the power distribution box under the hood. If you don't have an owner's manual, Dead Link Removed.

If that doesn't remedy the situation, read on:

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found a broken wire and repaired it and all is back to normal!

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Hope this helps out and be sure to keep us posted!! :biggthump

Thanks. Thats what I was planning on doing.I just thought id do a post to see if any one had a specific idea.It below zero right now and my garage is full of other toys(camper, Pinto Cruising wagon) so I have to do it out in the cold.

Good luck and be sure to keep us posted!

no luck yet. I checked all the fuses and the wires in the door are visually ok .Ill have to check the wires with a counituity tester next.

I Found It ! I started pulling apart the wires in the harness where they go through the boot and found a small red one was broken, I spliced in a new piece and now it it working again! Thanks for all your help!
