Keyfob with autostart

any ideas on where to get a replacement keyfob for a 2005 ford explorer sport trac? Aside from the dealership of course. Mine has an autostart function for that crazy albertan winter.lol. I ran over the fob and it was crushed so i cant use it anymore. Guy at f/x audio gave me options but they were way too expensive. Also, if i can find a fob similar to my keyfob can i reprogram it?

I would say if you can't find a used remote (on eBay) that is just like the one you ran over you're gonna be SOL trying to replace that remote. If you want to keep the same function as your auto-start you may need to remove the old stuff and install a new module.

Did you old fob look anything like this or have this Ford part number?

As far as programming a new fob... I don't know if you can do it yourself on a 2005. You could through 2001 provided you had 2 working keys. Check your owners manual.

Autostart meaning remote start? Could me wrong, but don't believe EITHER was a factory option regardless of trim level.

Nothing described in the owners manual, and likely aftermarket. Any pictures or markings from the broken fob?

I stand corrected. Ford remote start "was" available as a kit. Link below was posted 7/01, and does not include part numbers.

As koda mentioned, eBay is probably the best source for old remotes if they were available separately. GL
