So I found my Explorer (and took delivery today) It's got the keyless entry pad, but I can't find the card with the factory code on it to change the code to something of mine. I think it's also on the computer and the owners manual says I can go to the dealer to get it - has anyone else done it? Any cost involved?

I'd like to change the code so I can actually use it :)

Thanks

I bought it used and don't know what the previous owner had the code set at.

There is supposed to be a master code that you put in when changing the code - and the card it's supposed to be on (in the owners manual) isn't there. From what the manual says, it's also on the computer and if you go a Ford dealer and hook it up - I guess it'll tell you the code there.

Rock on - thanks. It'll be a nice day today - I just may go searching for the code :) It certainly isn't where I expected it to be. I was guessing under the dash or something.

Yeah, they move them around, just to keep us sharp... :)

this may seem pointless now but on my old 99 xlt my machanic just charged me $20. to get the door code with his computer, just took him 3 min. just thought id post this just in case ur not in the mood to remove panels :)

The Gen II is even easier- remove the jack cover in the rear, it's in there. ;) I'd have done it for $15 for ya! :)

lol thanx but Im from Queens NY, $20 was a mad deal for NY:)

Punch the window...

Haha no thanks. Because then I would need to replace the window :D

It was very easy to get to the panel actually. I had to play with it to put it back on to make it fit right, but got it. I've since forgotten the master code again so I'll haveta look it up and write it down for potential future reference :D
