keyless entry system keypad

Hope you can help. 2004 mercury mountaineer.. Using the outside door lock keypad, which i havent used for a while, I keyed in my five digit code to open the door and nothing happened. Pad did not light up and code did not work. Code is the factory numbers issued at purchase time. Looks like the system is down. Any ideas how i can bring it back to life? Any procedure? Thanks in advance.

What year is your Explorer? Check the owners manual to see if there is a fuse powering it, if not pull the door panel & with a test light start tracing it back to see where the power stops.

If you press "7/8" and "9/0" at the same time, it should lock the doors. Try that to verify operation.
