on my 02 it's behind the passenger side pillar, next to the 3rd row you need to remove the part that has the seatbelt for the 2nd row and use a flashlight to look below
I looked everywhere for mine... under the hood near the firewall... near the glovebox, near the trunk latch etc...
The only place I found mine was on the actual module itself.
The security module is located on the passenger side right behind the rear door. You have to lift two trim pieces which can easily be pried out, mine did not have any screws or bolts.
The trim pieces you have to remove are where the seatbelt is and where the piece it connects to that runs down toward the floor.
If you pull both those pieces back enough you'll see a bunch of wires and a module with a sticker on it. That sticker will have the code in large letters.
Ok guys am new here, I know where the code is, have had it for a while, but for some odd reason it isnt doing anything. I followed the instructions for the 99 merc I had since I cant find anything on the 02 I have and even putting the factory code in doesnt open the doors. Does any one know how to do a reset on an 02 Explorer/Mountaineer so that the rap code is the one that the pad responds to? The only thing that works is the 7/8 9/0 lock door combo.

So your saying that there isn't a reset for the keyless pad. I was able to reset my remote using the the 10 key strokes thing and I am doing good with that at the moment but I am seriously needing to reset the key pad. I bought the truck 4 years ago used and never got around to key pad.

Director-are you sure you have the right numbers? If you look where it's supposed to be and in fact the "code" you have is what's listed on the module, then there must be another problem. Perhaps a faulty keypad.
Its just snapped in with spring clips... It will snap back on easily.
No tools required except for a mirror which you might need to see the other side of the control box for the 5 digit number
This is the quote of the day!! ^^ I haven't laughed this hard in ages (I'm not poking fun at anybody, it's just funny to read!)
The reset is the original code number, which is not really a reset... It's just that anybody with the original code can open the door UNLESS it has been reprogrammed permanently. Curtis, you made my day, man, thank you!
